For the past 13 years she has been in the trenches teaching grades 3-12 for Coachella Valley United School District in California.
During the summer she teaches a class at Cal State University San Bernardino to teachers, counselors, and administrators called Tribes. Tribes facilitates a process where students bond and learn to trust and share. Its origin was for the prevention of drug abuse.
The motivation for writing this book came from witnessing so many of her former and current students become pregnant at a very young age... children having children.
